As a producer and production manager, I have worked steadily in the entertainment industry since the late 1980’s and have been credited on over thirty feature films.
Here is a link to my full FILMOGRAPHY on IMDB (the Internet Movie Database) or you may download my RESUME in pdf format. Recent production in New Mexico include BEER FOR MY HORSES, a Toby Keith-starring road comedy for MTV Films’ CMT division. In 2007 I production managed a pickup shoot for the comedy SUNSHINE CLEANING as well as the MGM actioner TO LIVE AND DIE in Albuquerque. From March through June I line produced the Connecticut shoot of Steven Seagal’s action flick PISTOL WHIPPED. Prior to moving to New Mexico, I production managed Zak Penn’s mockumentary THE GRAND, starring Woody Harrelson and Cheryl Hines, set in the Las Vegas world of tournament poker. Other recent productions include the heist caper HOW TO ROB A BANK and THE DOG PROBLEM, a comedy starring Giovanni Ribisi and writer/director Scott Caan. In 2005 I line produced UNKNOWN, a thriller featuring Jim Caviezel and Greg Kinnear as men who awaken in a warehouse with memories erased. I also line produced the Los Angeles portion of the US/China co-production SHANGHAI KISS, a cross-cultural romantic comedy by the Konwiser Brothers and writer/director David Ren. I co-produced master of horror Rob Zombie’s THE DEVIL’S REJECTS, a 2005 action-packed chiller for Lionsgate. I also co-produced MONSTER, starring Academy Award®-winning Charlize Theron in what critic Roger Ebert deemed "one of the greatest performances in the history of the cinema." This brutal, moving story was filmed on location in Florida with writer/director Patty Jenkins receiving the Best First Feature Director at the Independent Spirit Awards. In 2000 and 2001, I produced Alan Jacobs' hard-hitting drama AMERICAN GUN, starring James Coburn in an unforgettable final performance. The film, shot on location in six US states, was a hit at such festivals as the Hamptons and Seattle, and later released by Miramax Home Video. In 1999 I produced Tony Cookson’s romantic comedy LOVE HAPPENS, a look at the relationship foibles of a young woman terrified of commitment. One of the films I’m most proud of line producing is SMOKE SIGNALS, a groundbreaking success for Native American cinema. It won the Sundance Audience Award and Filmmaker's Trophy before a successful theatrical release by Miramax. Written by Sherman Alexie and directed by Chris Eyre, the film is a charming, moving story of two young Native Americans discovering themselves through their tumultuous relationship with the father, portrayed by Gary Farmer. In 1998 I joined the Director’s Guild of America when offered the UPM job on SHILOH SEASON. In 2000 I was unit production manager for the 20th Century Fox comedy KUNG POW! ENTER THE FIST, filmed at the Fox Baja studios in Mexico. This wacky satire is the creation of writer/director/actor Steve Oedekerk and features over 2,000 visual effects shots. I received a bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts at UCLA, then founded and served as artistic director of the Rough Theater ensemble. I entered the film industry as a story analyst with Beverly Hills production company Indian Neck Entertainment, then spent three years associate producing a slate of films for producer Ashok Amritraj and partnering with Julia Verdin at Rough Diamond Productions. My break as a line producer came in 1993 when director Strath Hamilton brought me aboard the nautical thriller TEMPTATION for Dino De Laurentiis. The action and effects-heavy film was a true baptism-by-fire education for me in the craft of on-set producing. Since then I have worked all over the United States and abroad in Romania, Canada and Mexico. In addition, I perform consulting work and prepare freelance budgets and schedules. I regularly teach production workshops at the Maine Media Workshops in Rockport, Maine. See the WORKSHOPS SECTION for more details. In December 2006 I relocated with my wife Kirsty and two young sons to Albuquerque and formed the production company Indieproduction, LLC. I aim to produce and production manage both independent and studio film projects and capitalize on the many incentives this great state offers.
